Celebrating the Changemakers of Tomorrow

The current Human civilization has possibly recorded the highest "Youth Population" in the human history. Around 1.8 of 7+ billion are estimated to be around the age bracket between 20-40 years. This vast energy is transforming the future as we know it. On "World Youth Skills Day", we celebrate the power and promise of youth.
Over the past few years, young people around the globe have been leading change on issues be it Entrepreneurship, Social Impact, education to Climate change. India's youth, in particular, are bringing innovation to the country's rapidly growing economy, social & cultural landscape. Backed by their vision, values, and tech capabilities, India's youth are creating solutions to 21st-century problems, launching companies as well as preparing for jobs that weren’t visualized about a decade ago.
While the challenges ahead are mammoth, the future is bright if we invest and empower our youth. On this "World Youth Skills Day", let us recognize the creativity, passion, and resilience of young people.

Our world's youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow - but they are leaders of today as well.

The current generation of India with an average of 29, is born post the colonial era of the British Raj, we are born to the generation which was hungry to make India grow from a “Hindu rate of GDP growth” 3% to the “VishwaGuru rate” of 8%. We have seen it all, the days when Ganguly unleashed his spirit at Lords 2002, to our Athletes making their mark at the Olympics stage in 2020, Sanctions on Nuclear Test to Chandrayan Mission, and Pivoting Y2K challenge to leading as CEOs of 2/4 $1Tn+ companies.

The current Gen JAM (Jandhan, AADHAR & Mobile Trinity) has produced around 100 unicorns and an Equity market cap of $4 Tn in India, which is charting a new story in the Global Economy and power index. We form the fastest-growing FDI destination to the largest player in Vaccine to Fintech. We are talking and executing scale like never before.

These inspiring transformations have boosted the confidence of our Gen JAM. Today over 70% of India's youth hope to start their own business, as per reports. This rise in youth entrepreneurship is transforming India's economy in several keyways:

  • Access to technology and education: India's youth today have far greater access to technologies, like affordable smartphones and mobile data, as well as higher education, this provides crucial skills for entrepreneurship. Over 50% of India's youth have a bachelor's degree or higher.

  • Innovative thinking: India's youth are digital natives, adept at learning new technologies and coming up with innovative solutions to problems.

  • Passion for social impact: Studies show India's youth leaders are socially conscious and want their work to have purpose and meaning. As a result, many youth entrepreneurs launch startups aimed at solving social or environmental problems. These social enterprises are transforming communities in need.

  • Contributing to job growth: Today over 4 mn/year are at least graduates or above ready for the job market. Our youth is in demand both locally and globally. Some of the Western countries are at our doorstep to offer them employment in short and long term like never before.

India’s education system has undergone massive changes in recent years to equip students with the skills required for the 21st century. According to a recent survey by an education NGO, over 70% of India’s schools have updated their curricula to include skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and digital literacy.

Traditional teaching methods focused on learning and memorization of facts. However, today’s world requires a different set of skills. Schools & Colleges under New Education Policy now emphasize skills such as:

  • Critical thinking: Analysing information and situations to make informed decisions.

  • Creativity: Producing original ideas, making unexpected connections, and imagining new possibilities.

  • Communication: Conveying ideas clearly through speaking, writing, and digital media.

  • Collaboration: Working together in teams, learning from others, and cooperating to achieve a common goal.

  • Entrepreneurship & Employability: NEP, NSDC, StartupIndia, and Standup India are leading the cause to create both Employers and Employees among our youth.

Classroom teaching is supplemented with experiential learning outside the classroom. Some examples include:

  • Internships and apprenticeships

  • Community service

  • Travel and cultural exchanges

We dedicate this day to the Youth of our country, who form the largest Youth population in the world as we speak today, to lead the world not just India.
Our Youth are creating the best opportunities for ourselves like never before. Youth will drive our country,

  • 5th largest economy to 3rd largest in less than a decade,

  • Per capita income of $2000 to $10,000

  • Making our audacious goal of Net zero carbon by 2070 possible.
